A lull

Massive amounts of progress in the new project, which is on track. We hit three major milestones in the past three months, the last two back to back in consecutive weeks. We’ve spent the last few days in a lull. The next milestone will likely come in early April.

I’m finding it difficult to switch gears back to focusing on the book… I need to keep context around the new project in mind, which eats into my creative headspace. We only just stopped the frenetic activity to meet our most recent deadline, and I’m guessing we need a breather. Breaks tend to be more refreshing and reinvigorating if you don’t spend them feeling guilty about taking the break, so I’m letting myself off. Just as long as it doesn’t stretch out too long.

Daily writing

(This is a bit on daily writing I wrote in January. I did get back to it, just for a few days before the new project reared its head again. I’ll refrain from giving it a timeline this time… just, I’ll get back to it again.)

I miss daily writing. I miss how, when there’s a moment of quiet, when I pause during the day, my mind always returned to my characters, their stories. These days my mind is filled with the logistics of our project, of the next items on my todo list.

I plan on getting back to it later this month. Perhaps not to the degree I was in the first half of last year, but at least a little each day. To keep it fresh in my mind. To plant those seeds in my head so new ideas and solutions to thorny problems sprout throughout the days.
